Great shots in this thread. I am thinking abut this lens for some bird shots. Anyone using this lens with the sigma adapter for Sony e and an a7r. Ha I realize the a7r is not right for this set up but it's the only body I have since I do mostly landscapes. I just want to try some birding and maybe the eagles this fall. I can pick up a used Canon 7d for a little more than the adapter or maybe a Sony a6ooo and the adapter if that would work?

howdy - used 7D would be an affordable awesome choice.

Thanks Immaculens, I think this would be my best bet; unless someone has any first hand experience with the Sigma mc-11 and Sony a7r?

i just picked up this lens and i use a original sony a7. i use the inexpensive viltrox11 adapter. it works pretty good,i can't say the sigma adapter would work better but i would hope it would. this lens on the a7 is great,it would be even better on your a7r as u have more info to crop. this lens works much better on my 70d so i use it on there for anything moving but for stationary subjects the a7 via adapter works pretty good. i doubt u would be happy with birds in flight though or with moving subjects. the sigma adapter may work better though. theres a few guys in the sony forum that have the adapter. they say it works ok but not as good as they hoped

Nice images!

It appears that your lens may be back focusing. Note where the focus is on the barbed-wire vs at the plane of its feet - focus appears behind the birds feat and on the last shot - the focus falls on the branch behind the feet.

Maybe I am nuts, just trying to help - cheers!
