Well it wasn't on the fathers day special, but I was at the refurb store and low and behold the new 500mm II was in stock.

!!!


Now to sell a lot of stuff...
For one thing my 500mm MkI will be on the block.

Lucked out and just picked up a 100-400 II.

They restocked some items this afternoon.

this is the time where canonpricewatch.com is huge...sign up for their alerts, and just be quick on it after you get the email, and you can score...they had the 135L for 675, and 100IS for 611...luckily for me, i don't have money to spend on lenses right now...

Argh, missed the 100-400 II again. Or maybe I should say, Whew, missed it again.

Really need to raise some cash first. Such a good price, though.

its ok I didn't miss it.... lol been checking since yesterday and just when i didn't expect it bam there it was.... now to just make sure it is on its way

I've hit the jackpot a couple times ONLY because of canonpricewatch
If I wasn't signed up for their alerts, I would have spent hundred more for less gear at this point.

Thanks! I think I snagged one at 5:30pm ET but will wait for further confirmation.

The notifications on CPW are definitely the best tool available to save money on gear. I got the notification of the 70-200 being back in stock yesterday and placed my order. Less than an hour later they were gone.

Been waiting for a good deal on this lens for a long time. It's going to make low-light event photography so much easier.

I snuck in on a 100-400 II yesterday... I'm excited, but I haven't got a shipping confirmation yet. I think my out the door was $1619 because we have sales tax in Texas. There was a $10 next day shipping that I used as well....

Dammit!!! FML!! I pulled the trigger on a 100-400 II on May 24 and had to pay the $1759 price.

Edit: It's not all bad. I've been wanting a 24-70 II and I pulled the trigger on one of those.

Looks like the 100-400 II was in stock for a bit again today. It now says Sold Out 6 Hours Ago.

Got my tracking number... here tomorrow by 10:30am!

Curious if anyone ordering a refurb lens lately received it without a box? I bought a 70-200, and the lens just came in the standard soft case with bubble wrap around it (in the main shipping box, of course). My previous refurb orders always came in white boxes. Not a big deal, but curious if this is typical for others as well.

The lens itself was next to perfect. Just wiped off a few dust specs on the glass, and couldn't tell the lens from new otherwise. The hood has some marks on it, but works fine.

Anxious to give it a good test… So far I'm really impressed. Focus is lightning fast.

Last lens I got was during the last sale, it came in a brown Canon Vixia box inside the shipping box. Years ago, I got a 100-400 refurb that was packaged just as you describe.
