Every refurb I have gotten lately has come in a box that is for a point and shoot camera with a sticker stating what was inside. I have never gotten a refurbished lens in a white box.

Does the TF actually know about the soda cans and PVC pipe from 30 years ago?

My 100-400ii came today in a brown box wrapped in bubble wrap and the case as you described.

Thanks to everyone chiming in. Looks like this might be normal for lenses like the 70-200 and 100-400 that already come with a substantial soft case. Good to know.

I got the 16-35mm and it came wrapped in a ton of bubble wrap in a Powershot Vixia box inside another brown box. Packed well for sure.

Wouldn't you know that I was on vacation (shooting) when the 100-400 went below my $1,500 buy-in threshold and I wasn't aware of it until I got back and got caught up with my email and forum posts. Aaarggghhh.
