Yes I guess we should have said Doc,....If you use your 2.0 extender you can use live view to focus. It is a pain with the sun but it works. As 3jc said ,..it's much easier than manual for some.

Being a sports shooter, I like to have two camera bodies on me when shooting sports. I've been shooting with a 7DII as my main body and my old 7D as my second body. Well looking at the sale going on right now for refurbished equipment in the Canon Shop, I bought another 7DII for $1199. I've also been wanting to get a 24-70mm F/2.8 II and I ordered a refurbished one for $1291.

I'll be selling my 7D with its grip. I'm thinking about selling my 70-200mm F/2.8 I and getting a refurbished 70-200mm F/2.8 II

Let's hope the refurbished 7DII is as good as my first one. My old 7D was a refurbished purchase and I never had a lick of problems with it.

You'll love the 24-70 II. Great lens! I am liking the 5DSr as a 2nd camera to accompany my 7D2 on my birding trips. It's a bit too much for me right now, given that I just dropped 8 grand on a 500 II. But I think the 500/4 with a 1.4x on my 7D2, along with my 100-400 II on a 5DSr would be a killer birding combo! :) One can dream!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
