That first shot would go well in the "this is gonna hurt" thread if you haven't put it there already.

My wife and I went for a drive and found a small bird preserve not far from the city. It is not marked except on a map. It was nice because the sun was behind me. Some of the birds were far away and there was a lot of atmospheric disturbance. I'm always looking for these places. Gonna have to go there during the golden hour. Lot's of white cranes.

lester it's a long time since I heard 1 of those let alone saw a cuckoo.

That's, sad. I normally hear them a lot but not see them.

We are down south so I guess they are a lot more common here although the BTO data looks quite UK wide http://app.bto.org/mapstore/StoreServlet?id=276 (external link).

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

As kids we used go out the back into the fields and watch for the meadow pipets find their nests and check for cuckoo egg then watch the poor bird feeding the monster growing in the nest but not now its all urban jungle this was back in the 50s we have a country-park near but sadly no pipets or cuckoos so sad, bye gone days:-(

Nice.
So far a really clear shot of the moon has eluded me.
