Wow Dan, that is a superb picture. I'm rarely taken by b&w but this has drama, composition and a great deal of interest.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Thanks Pippan,
Glad it was worth the effort. It is a really cool place and I walked round and around the place trying shots from different angle/heights and couldn't get anything I really liked. I was actually leaving when I glanced back and though "Hmmm try ultrawide?"

Kevin,
I like this. Is it at or near the University of Chicago?

At first glance it looks like the building is tipping out at the top. Then looking closely at the edges of the frame confirms that the verticals are vertical.

I have the same sensation when looking at a lot of my images, especially when shot with my TSE lenses.

I end up converging the verticals just a couple of points in Lightroom and they look better.

Anyone else noticing this phenomenon? Especially with TSE lenses?

Yes. Milimetrically exact does not always mean pleasantly looking. It's best to add a wee bit of keystoning in post to make some buildings look as the eye would see them. Kinda paradoxical, that we spend top cash on lenses that correct distortion and then we reintroduce said distortion ourselves, but it's only decimals of a degree in post.

I need to get out more and take photos. This is the last one I took and it's nearly 3 months old...

^Fantastic shot! Book Tower is one of my favorite buildings. Detroit has many pre-war gems.
