Being a 7D MKII owner myself I prefer the 2nd version. It is a nice camera body for sports, birds etc. but personally I think this is not the best choice for portraits.

Nothing special about these, and I think I was a bit heavy on the lighting (the bottom reflector especially), but the client was happy.

Yes sir. Two strip lights with grids behind and to the side of the subject, and an octobox camera left at about a 45 degree angle.
