I'd like to add the Pelican Air 1535 case with TrekPak to my gear list so I can do a review.

Would it be possible to add the full list of new Pelican Air cases?

1485
1525
1535
1555
1605
1615

Each with pick and pluck foam (just the number), no foam (NF), padded dividers (WD) or TrekPak dividers (TP).

Each available in Black, Orange, Yellow or Green. Eventually, at least.

Thanks!

Just a suggestion about the gear list layout in the "Personal Gear List" page. The way gear is presented in a linear line separated by commas can cause brain freeze on viewing. Specially since there are so many numbers and acronyms involved.

I would like to suggest using a more distinctive separator between each gear element such as a bullet point. Anything to help break the pattern and help separate the elements. For example, change the current...

The next version (soon) has it covered. In addition to clearer list, you can sort your gear by dragging. Everywhere you gear list shows, the custom order is applied.

Moderators, could you add the Samyang/Rokinon 12mm F/2.8 FF fisheye lens to the gear list? Right now, only the 8mm fisheye is listed, and I suspect this is the crop version.

Thanks!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Is there a way to add a generic or specific "fill in the blanks" type lens, for folk who are using telescopes and the like? Right now we have to put a random lens on something just to be able to add it to the gallery.

Even just a generic "Telescope" entry where we can define the focal length & aperture would be a big help.

Very best,

Very best,

Yes, this is added in the next update (or sooner).

"Telescope" will appear under:
LENSES -> (Unspecified manufacturer) -> Astrophotography

What kind of focal length numbers we are talking about? I think 65535 is the max allowed at the moment :)

I don't think we need a specific focal length, since just like with current lenses, you can input focal length in mm already. We can easily just add the focal length as you can now (which will allow for entering it as it would be with a barlow, etc). I don't think anyone would need anything close to 65,535. Lots of scopes have odd focal lengths, it would be impractical I think to have pre-set ones as it would have to be in increments of single digits from 400 to 3000, and that's just too many. Again, we can already enter focal length on any lens as it is in the current system.

The main issue simply being able to choose telescope, instead of a camera lens.

Thanks!

Very best,

Very best,

I meant that focal length question re:"mm field" in a metadata editor, sorry for being unclear.

Mm just like with normal camera lenses would be appropriate. Telescopes are most often referred to by their aperture only and rarely describe their actual focal length without going into specific specs of the scope. For example, it's common to simply refer to a 6 inch or 150mm telescope referring to aperture only. But, to keep it the same as lenses, I see no issue simply having "Telescope" and being able to enter focal length in mm, aperture as normal in an f-stop number, etc, just like a camera lens.

Very best,

Hrm,

On the subject, another topic if it has not already been mentioned: CCD cameras. A lot of us use CCD cameras instead of dSLR/dSLM, M43, etc. If a comprehensive list has already been provided, great. If not, if this is an option, I wouldn't mind creating a rather large comprehensive list of CCD cameras. This too prevents us from adding things to our gallery, unless we select a camera in our gear list, that isn't the actual device used.

Alternatively, unless it's already been suggested, how about a simpler way to add images to our gallery without requiring all the gear used in drop down boxes?

Very best,

Will the database requests be brought up to date with the new version? I requested that a lens be added a year ago (and another lens a few months later) and there has been no action or response on either. I appreciate all the work done here, but the criteria for acting on requests made here evade me. Thanks.

Sorry if I have missed your request. I did a vast update a month ago (https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=18022504). I'll update subsequent requests soon.

Let me know what you need.
