Thanks STIC. I appreciate the comments!

I've been hired to do a few automotive sessions, but it's so hit or miss where I'm located. I can only imagine the deadlines you must have worked under to get the images to the magazines.

1DX MK ii, 5D3's, 5D2, 7D, Some L's, Some Sigma Art Lenses plus a bunch of Elinchrom strobes.

I'll say...

I secured us a very famous Australian fully modded WRX (which was over here for Autosalon) as the main feature and cover car for our January issue (beat out our competitor on this one), went to set up day at the show and shot it on the main stand, with the owners at around 2-3am, got the images home and on the PC and the hard drive died...

...OMG...

Had to pay a tech firm to recover the hard drive...a few tense days...

I wish I could arrange more shoots like these! Do you find that shooting automotive photography is a hobby or do you guys get paid for your sessions?

I did well before the days of photoshop & still do a paid shoot or two. Boulevard Photographic

I love to do them but I've never felt like my photos were good enough to be paid for, so usually ended up doing them for free.

I must say that is one of the ugliest WRXs I've ever seen. Wow. Nice story though! Glad you got the drive recovered.

Oh god, I didn't even realize that was a WRX until you said that. I thought it was an unrelated photo.

Ha ha...

The irony of it is, while shooting this (which I also find tacky), I owned a 1 of 300 made, 2002 WRX Type RA Spec C (the wrc homologation model), 1280kg, 234kw:

Haha, last picture says, stepping motor drive. Sound like an AF motor of a lens.
