A couple of airborne passers-by taken from my garden this evening. Amazing how the gulls on this side of the Atlantic so closely resemble those on Mike's side of the pond (above)!

Nice shots.

one note if you can better not to use above f/11 on the last one at f/16 you will see the spots on your sensor and difraction of your lens becomes an issue.

Actually, I went back and checked the individual photos for that one, and the (big) spot moves, it's a seagull :) But I have noticed spots on the sensor when I did a macro shot at f/14, so I'm guessing I should clean my sensor anyway if the opportunity comes :)

Is it always above f/11, or is it individual for each focal length?

It depens some lenses can be used for this purpose others are not so good.
Higher resolution camera,s like the 5DS do have this problem quite easy.
Spots on your sensor are easy to detect shoot at a clear blue sky at the highest apeture possible.

A camera is a tool for learning how to see without a camera.

The camera didn't come out for much on our vacation last week; relaxing was the #1 priority. It did make it out for two sunsets though, with solid results. Here's the first one, over the Nags Head Fishing Pier, OBX, NC.

Been weeks since I've been out, but finally managed the sunset tonight

This local church is reportedly the smallest in England, alas its in a bit of a valley so went for a long exposure to keep a bit of interest in the sky (the best of the sunset was behind a nearby hill -?)

Year ago I had a little insect crawling in my 70D... look through the VF and there it was... assuming it was on the sensor? Does that make sense if I saw it in the View Finder?

..

I think it has to be inside the viewfinder and not on the sensor. On the sensor and it would just be a spot, since I don't think the sensor could resolve anything on it into the actual object. I have just noticed all sorts of crud in my viewfinder, I'd like to get it out of there if anyone knows a way, short of sending it in for a cleaning. May come to that....

Just spotted this one on a leaf of a sycamore sapling (need to pull that up or it's roots will grow and lift my garden path up!)

The other sunset was due to that ever important photographer skill I like to call lucky timing. The sun was setting, very low, and appeared to be melting into the clouds, to what I thought was really cool effect.
