Phenomenal lens and you can certainly wield it.
I just got back from a trip and am trying to decide if I need to do the firmware...so far I haven't had a problem with the
provided CFast card. Should I do it anyway?

Thanks. :)

I haven't updated my firmware yet. Never had a problem, though I never shot w/ the 64gb sandisk card provided by the kit. I went straight to my 256gb lexar.

I may just end up skipping this firmware update and wait for the next one (if/when there is a next one) that address whatever other problem they find that might affect my camera or the situation.

Hi all.

how many owners of this camera are none pro/serious ameture toggers?

The reason i ask is because it seems that if you are not a pro shooting sports and wildlife, this camera is overkill and its best to wait for a 5d upgrade instead?

Thoughts?

And why does it matter to you that the camera is overkill to some?

I am not a pro but why wait, this camera is just amazing. I just love the 1d bodies and have always used them. How is it overkill just because your a non pro? My main lens is a 800mm and paired with the 1dx bodies is outstanding in my opinion. I have tried non 1d bodies and found them to small and I have added the grips for extra battery life and size, but I really do not care for the grips. I have no doubt the 5d will be a great camera but it will not be 1dx II.

I'm in the same boat, though a generation behind at the moment. The ergonomics of these bigger bodies more than makes up for any weight or size penalty IMO.

I'm not a pro but had bought several used "1" series cameras through the years a while back I traded the used ones in & bought a new 5D3 & while it's a great camera it felt like a toy after using the "1"s ...I didn't like the mode knob on top or the way the "buttons" are set up on the back....just a personal preference...and now I'M overKILLIN IT !!

Every camera become overkill if you can't learn something from them.

Took the Camera to a Boudoir session last week. I used i speedlight for fill at times or shot with natural light. I could probably shoot Jpeg in these situations.

I would have to post the others in The G&N forum as they are a little more then what we should post in here
