I have a canon friend who's willing to jump to sony. he's asking if the eye focus works well with the A7II. Is it?

Outstanding work. Such a wonderful Hitchcock feel to this one.

Because I know several of you use the a6300/a6000 as companion to the A7x I wanted you to know
our a6300 is off to Sony warranty/repair.
It did fantastic on the Iceland/Norway trip where it never got above 45F, but here in the backyard at 85F it would allow
20-25 shots (no video) and shutdown.
Some of you posted up that you've not had this problem in much hotter environments (Eriet in Phoenix at 107F as an example).
So currently owning 4 Sony bodies and having owned 8 this is my first time visiting Sony repair. I'll be
curious as to turn around time and what action they take.
The 'man' on the phone easily agreed that simply taking pictures resulting in thermal shutdown was unacceptable.

Only with native Sony lenses. Adapted glass = no eye AF. Sony glass = eye AF in afs.

You need a a7rii or a6300 for eye AF in afc

So, at the risk of getting skewered, has anyone here shot Nikon before moving on to Canon and Sony? I'm kind of curious about the "dark side' and what your experience with that system may have been.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

No Nikon experience here. a lot of guys though said that it has more dynamic range. some said the skintones on canon is much better but being a retoucher, that does not matter anymore.

Jonathon has a Nikon set, I believe the d800 and d750... I have a few Nikon lenses, after the d600 disaster and tough to use d800, I'm scarred for life when it comes to Nikon bodies. I had bought the d600 then on a whim, refused delivery..... best move ever, avoided that train wreck.

Nikon lenses don't adapt well at all with Sony. All their low budget stuff seems very good, but canon high end stuff is more reasonable
