I'm going to the game today and sometimes I feel like the iPhone 6s is not up to the task.

So I'm thinking of getting a compact for those days I don't want to bring my 5D MkIII.

I would like the G7 X, but that is above what I want to spend.

What has your experience (positive/negative) been compared to a mobile phone's camera. Or am I just being silly.

bannedPermanent ban

I found Canon compacts extremely slow.

A sony RX100 II would be a good option http://www.bhphotovideo.com …100m2_digital_camera.html (external link)
I would buy it used.

Too late! :-P

On my lunch break I went to Best Buy and they matched B&H open box price ($379) on the G9 X! I figured I'd give it a shot and was pretty shocked they did it.

I also had a $60 Rewards that I applied so the total came out to $$348!

I'll post some pics tonight at Yankee Stadium.

Only because I'm going to the game tonight. Not to mention it was a pretty good deal.

G88, great shots...the one from behind home plate is awesome! Looks like the G9X is a keeper for sure :-)

Thanks guys!

I think it's a keeper as well. In fact was looking at neck straps last night.

I posted more shots yesterday at that same Flickr album.

One thing I did notice, there's no photo thread for the G9 X. Maybe I'll start one.

The G9x is my favorite camera I own, including my 5DIII. My only wish is that it had a wider wide angle

Really nice shots. I'm impressed.

For the comment above. Yes I agree why can't these compacts have a 20mm-xxmm range. 20mm is perfect for the wide side IMHO.

My entire hobby of gear lust has temporarily been shifted into overload. Please be patient while my mind tries to get back onto the road to recovery. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause....

Yes, me too. The G9 X starts at 28mm. The G7 X Mk II at 24mm. But I would have loved the longer reach of the G7 X (80 vs 100). But it's not in my DNA to spend $700+ for a P/S.
