Who knew that the biggest learning curve was going to involved use the higher number of focus points.

Can you expand on what you mean here?

Are you meaning moving the focus points around is what is taking some learning? Using the center point shouldn't be much of an issue, right?

Changing habits I've developed over the years. Used to using the center point then recomposing. Now having all those other points, I have choices.

So not so much learning curve, but habit breaking.

There are loads of these along the local river right now. I wish there would be some other species too, though.

Hi,sorry for the late reply, its noticeably faster on a 500 bare than 600(300x2)and accurate too.the only advantage for me is the IS for the 300 otherwise its still a joy to use the 500 inspite of its age,i think its my novice experience in the post processing the pictures why the image taken with 300 look more contrastier/sharper.

Just got this camera yesterday. I have 14 days to evaluate and make a decision if this can replace my 6D. I really love the 6D but I missed the extra reach of a crop body for wildlife photos. I'm sure the 80D can get excellent quality landscape photos like the 6D. Here's a few test pics from yesterday. This is only a hobby so owning both bodies doesn't make sense to me. Besides I already have an A6000 for travel to compliment.
