Thanks for the comment and sharing of your family dog's situation. Ours had a cancerous tumor removed from his mouth 5 months ago, and it certainly could have spread. We are offering all the comfort we can, but he's so lethargic, none of his favorite things matter to him.

Jul 18, 2016 10:01 | #3608 Just a thought has he been checked for Lime Disease. My dog was recently lethargic, not eating much and starting limping. Turns out she tested positive for Lime. Flickr

Anyone ever experience this? The first, and last time, we went on vacation without our golden, we found out that he stayed outside in the rain, waiting for us to return. It seemed as if he thought we left him. He was very depressed. We never left him alone while we were on vacation. NickS

Not a golden, but the first time I left my folks' dog for an extended vacation (was gone almost 18 days total) he accompanied me when I was dropped off to meet my roadtrip group. Apparently, when I put him in the car and shut the door, he let out a crying howl- just one- and then laid down on the floorboard and sulked the rest of the 18 days, with brief intermission to move places. The next time I left for a weekend trip, he could tell I wouldn't be back from work that evening, and he bolted out the screen door to try to catch the car. This is with him staying with the other 2 members of the family.
