I was pleased with the IQ, with this photo being a good example. I would say the IQ is consistent with my old 100-400 mk1. The AF only works on center-point at F/8 or higher. It was a bit slower, but not an issue at all for airshows.

That's very nice. We don't often get the right angle of the sun to enhance the prop like that.

Very true, we planned it, and fortunately were able to execute the plan. The prop was flat black with tip stripes. Around 1/60th I believe.

You just keep going around and around until you get the look you want :) Big or little, 1/60th is a sweet spot. This was down around 1/50th to get the background effect I was looking for. 1/50th air to air requires everything to be perfect, and the photographer to be very lucky :)
