Several of the many reasons Yellowstone is so beautiful and a national treasure.

One overlooked advantage of Yellowstone is its proximity to the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole. Years ago, on our first trip to Yellowstone, we could not book adequate lodging in the middle of summer. We decided to stay in Jackson Hole and have never regretted that decision. From Jackson to Old Faithful is about a 2 hour drive if you do not make any scenic stops, which are plentiful. It can be more however, depending on the area of Yellowstone you chose to visit.

FYI, July 4th is a great time to be in Jackson Hole. It's a very patriotic town!

I sent the OP bigcountry a PM asking for permission to post a picture I took of a Bison in Yellowstone back in 2010.

Thank you bigcountry for granting me permission! He said I could if my picture is not better than his! I hope mine is not... ;-)a
