Hey Julian...

Next month is Wings Over Camarillo air show. I'm interested in how your new cam performs.
Bring us back some photos, will ya?

Haha. I'd love to but looks like I'll be off camping that weekend so no photos of airplanes, yet.

We'll see if I can make it out to Huntington Beach Airshow and/or Miramar and/or Avaition Nation this year.

Ok, enjoy your camping trip. I may rent the camera for a few days.

Renting this would be ill-advised.

Why?

Because you'll just end up buying it.

Hint, it gets a pretty good grade.

Hey, DPR and Canon are back on speaking terms!

A lot of the same items we've seen here being mentioned, (eg including touch screen but limiting it's function, Auto-ISO in manual EC forced onto the set button, etc..) Review seems to hit all the high points as well though.

Not only that, but renting these high end cameras can be expensive.
2 yrs ago I rented the 1DX from Samy's Camera @ $300/day. Ouch! :-(

When you think about it, what does 'up' even mean on a spheroidal planet hurdling through space at ludicrous speed? Not much really. It's all a matter of perspective.

Just a few minor color tweaks in Photoshop to bring out the hair and grass a little.

600EX flash on camera bounced off an overhanging tree above acting as a huge natural soft box.

Yesterday I was 'training' Bluebirds...or the other way around. Got nothing different/unique but a female cardinal did
a pose for me on an adjacent fig tree-

Hey MedicineMan, quick question. I was reading back a few pages and I noticed you were considering an 8-15L. Did you ever pick one up? If so, how do you like it? I'm in the market for that lens soon because a particular business venture I've got going is going to require it. Would love your thoughts on the lens if you managed to get your hands on one. :-)

Anthony,

I have owned the Canon 8-15 for awhile now and even though I have not used it very much, I've found it to be a great lens when I do. It's really fun from a creative standpoint, especially indoors when you have interesting surroundings. It also excels at up-close action sports. But it is a specialty-lens. Using it will definitely make one's work standout among the rest, but in my opinion it's kind of like spice in your food: when you use just the right amount, it adds great flavor...but if you use too much, then your food can start to taste weird. It's a wonderful lens to have in the bag and is a lot of fun to use.

I am about to put my 8-15L up for sale when I get home from the trip I'm on. I recently picked up the Canon 11-24L and I'm going to sell the Canon 8-15 to help justify the big purchase. (Not telling you to advertise, just sharing my move to the 11-24, which I'm very excited about BTW!)

Cheers,
Bryan

Aehric I did get one. You have an excellent memory. Of course I like it, it's a lens! Ha! But truthfully for what I shoot it will get little use. I've only taken one shot with it-the backyard down in the city, with an adapter and sony so I won't embed in this thread-

You'll notice at 11mm the distortion isn't that bad, I do think I used the wide angle thing in PScc to correct.
I'm now remembering another reason I wanted it. It's F4 :)
I'm trying to build an F4 world=EOS 16-25, 24-70, 8-15, 400DOii.
When I was in town I did see a skate park, that's where I should go to play with it, me trusting the young hoodlums to go airborne over me and the 1DXii !
