Another thought I had was to sell the 6D and get a 7DII which would give me more reach and better autofocusing and the A7II for full frame.
Any thoughts on that?

Jan 01, 2016 08:51 | #17 To each their own. I am happy with the move to Sony. I have not found that for my uses the A7R2 does not meet my needs. Unless your primary use was birding or sports I would probably not move to a crop camera.

(3 edits in all) | Jan 22, 2016 23:58 | #18 I too held Canon (6D which I subsequently sold) and bought into the A7ii primarily for manual focus glass. I bought into the Zeiss Contax Yashica line of lenses and held onto my Canon glass and am happy I did so. At one point I thought of buying a Canon body just for those times when autofocus is what you want, but then in November 2015 when Sony released their v2 software, autofocus on my A7ii using Canon lenses improved dramatically (nearly as fast and consistent as my 6D was), at least for my setup which is using the Metabones IV adapter on the camera. So no need for me to buy another body. Have you tried any form of adaption for your lenses on the A7ii?

Jul 17, 2016 18:01 | #19 I had sony A mount and MFT, made the decision to go all MFT, sold the Sony gear and now regret it. I found the Sony A series very limited in third party accessories and now find out MFT is lacking in many areas as well like versatile, fast glass. I'm headed back to canon and I'll wait for the E mount Sony to mature. Till I can afford it is just about the right amount of time. Scott

DavidArbogast Cream of the Crop More info | Jul 17, 2016 19:18 | #20 The a7R II has excellent AF and, at 42 MP, is reasonably close to the 7D II pixel density. I don't have your 70-300mm, but it focuses my EF 70-200mm f/4L IS impressively fast...about as good as a 5D III or my 5DS R. Best of both worlds perhaps? David | Flickr

jay125 the title fairy put me in therapy More info | Jul 31, 2016 11:43 | #22 I shoot mainly Canon, but I was given a Sony A7rII for Christmas. I've used it and it's a pretty dang sweet camera, but I can't seem to get my mind made up. I will definitely keep my Canon gear, but will also keep my a6000 and my A7rII.

Aug 17, 2016 09:03 | #23 i was a canon shooter for many, many years with weddings and what not. Coming from (2) 5d3's and a 6D with a lot of L glass. I decided last year i was going to be done shooting weddings after i finished my contracts up which was in May. I bought a A7ii to give sony a shot since i heard all the hype and scooped up a Sony 50 1.8 to try the camera with. I told myself if i liked the sony body, i would sell off all of my canon gear.

Needless to say, sold off all of my canon gear LOL. I truly love my sony and am glad to be down to one system that is much smaller, lighter and better suited for walking around car shows and hiking with. Only thing i miss is all the lenses i had for my canon kit, but now that i am not shooting weddings anymore, there was no real reason for me to have them all anyways. not a wedding photographer, but I feel the same way, it wasn't fun running after by kid with a 5DIII and my eye glued to viewfinder, sony system is so much smaller and works much better.

I still have all of my Canon gear, except the nifty fifty, which I gave to my sister. I currently have an a6000, the FE 50mm, kit lens, 35mm, and the 55-210. I'm going go sell off the Canon gear before Christmas to upgrade to an a7ii, and hopefully get one or two primes as a gift to myself. My reason for switching is easy: I now have arthritis and I need a lighter set up. I purchased the a600 on a whim and fell in love. I've dragged my feet for almost a year in selling off my Canon gear, but I'm ready to, now. Haven't touched it since I bought the Sony. Sony: a6000, 70-200 f4, 50 f1.8, 35 f1.8, 3.5/30 macro, 55-210, 16-50

There is definitely a time and place for all three of my bodies, but not a week goes by when I try to justify choosing between the two mounts.
