Short MFD and VC make it a really nice and handy lens to take close-up photos.

I am constantly amazed by your work sir.

Your Milky Way shots got me interested in trying my hand at astrophotography, I have only made one trip out so far, but was able to get what I consider a couple of respectable keeper shots with my 6D and a 14mm Rokinon.

I've been hankering for a faster lens and to make time for more frequent trips (unfortunately it is a 2 hour drive to get even reasonably away from light pollution from the Seattle/Everett WA. area). Your shots in this thread have sold me on the Tamron, even if it is wider than the 20-24mm I was hoping for.

Guess I will have to work on learning how to stitch such shots was well ;) Ordered from BH Photo today, should have it Monday.


Thanks for helping me spend money, hope you get a commission from Tamron!

PS- Visiting New Zealand has made it's way on to my bucket list as well. What is the best time of year weatherwise for night sky photography?

Slight crop, but not much. Did I mention I love the magnification on this thing? The autofocus reminds me a lot of the 50mm STM that this replaces for me.

I figured I would throw some photos in here since I just go through around 10 weddings and some other various shoots with it. I don't have one bad thing to say about it. I even dropped it mid lens change from like 3 feet and it was fine :) I dig the color/rendering it produces. No focus issues at all, and I put this lens through every situation I could. The VC really comes in handy for low light detail shots as well. Overall a really good purchase :) The EXIF data for the 1dsmkII is pretty odd though :)

Awesome stuff!

I shot my first wedding with my Tamron 35 yesterday, it handles everything really well! My only grip is that I wish it had a focus limiter; it can take a while to rack focus because of how close it will go. Otherwise it's an absolute gem.

Shot almost an entire party with this lens last night, my 135mm was relegated to a handful of shots during speeches. Onion bokeh and the lack of a focus limiter are my only gripes, it's been super reliable, even in low light.
