And I too like the 1/1000 but sometimes ya got to do what ya got to do.
Don't get me wrong. I'd love to be able to shoot 1000sec and faster but I'll near always drop aperture or shutter speed, particularly when I envisage having to crop, rather than go above iso 800. But needs must as you say Jeff, and I'm beginning to pay a bit more attention nowadays to the need to get the shot come what may.
I guess I'm a bit anal/perfectionist, 'cause in the past I would look through the viewfinder, see a too low shutter speed or aperture (in AV) and say to myself, "this ain't gonna work, the iso needs to be too high for me", and then not bother with the shot. Nowadays I'm beginning to think more like, "I need to up the iso to get this one and let PP handle the noise". I guess the former thinking comes from so many years with the old Canon 350 when I knew if I upped the iso the shot would be crap anyways and my lack of PP skills. I guess I just need to have more faith in the better noise handling of today's combo and not spend as much time looking at my 100% on screen images.
