There used to be a separate LMSYS photo thread. This was the chat side of the comp. The comp. fizzled out as we all became too busy to continue, but we still chat here when we have time. As far as breaking rules... We are all guilty of that! :)

Breaking rules is what creatives do, isn't it?

Well said Joby...

Tom this thread was actually created for comments because there were no comments allowed in the competition threads. So IIRC Harm posted the rules for the contest here to. Those rules were for the contest not this thread. Confusing probably for those that weren't involved back in the day.

Had some in-laws roll into town last weekend, people we rarely see. Their stop was a brief one hour stay, but I was employed to get pictures on my in-law nieces because of the rarity of their presence. Here are Kim and Erica, who I've not seen since 2008...

Hey everyone! Popping in for a few minutes myself tonight. Matt, good to see you chime in! Jason, those are some nice images of your in-law nieces. Jon, it's hard to believe your little one started first grade. Harm, Alexander can't be too far behind. Is he a year younger? Time flies with the little ones.

I've been working on some home improvement projects (doing most of the work myself but calling in reinforcements when needed, especially for musclepower) and haven't been doing too much photography for fun lately. However, last spring my school district started work on their new "Promise of Gwinnett" campaign. I started doing head shots of kids onsite at their schools, 6 kids per school and 3 schools per day with 1 1/2 hrs allotted per school onsite. I've started finishing up with schools I couldn't get to before the end of last year and should be done in another couple of weeks. In the meantime, the new site with the kids' headshots has gone live. They add new kids each week, and you can see some of the shots from last spring here (external link).

Sometime in September or so, I'll start doing some staff photos as well. I'll admit the logistics can be a bit challenging at times, but it's been fun meeting the kids and teachers so far. It helps remind me of why I got into education over 30 years ago. At least I'm having fun with photography and out of the stressful IT world I was in last year. :-)

I may be fascinated with volcanoes, but the name's Lisa.

Awesome photos Allen! Nice to see the color work. I have been shooting sailing regattas lately on digital. I even shot my first engagement. Had to clear the brain of all that color by spending some time in the darkroom making silver gelatin prints from digital negs.

Here is one of the better sailing photos. I am making tintypes from some of the sailing photos now. I can also now make silver gelatin prints from digital files and might switch this project over as the results from the digital internegatives are looking pretty good. I found it quite hard to make something artistic while bobbing around on a boat in the ocean. The light for most of that day was not so good.
