Nice colors Rob.. the muted colors of the blues and pinks compliment the childs skin tone really well

...BTW a mate of mine here in Melbourne ordered one of your monopod gimbals the other week and he recons its quality of workmanship is second to none...He is super impressed with the gimbal also for ease of use etc and very very happy with the purchase ...Thought I would pass that feedback on as he doesnt frequent this thread as he is a Nikon Sports shooter . . .. As He and I will be working together in a couple of weeks time ( under contract to the regional Football Association to capture their divisional Grand final matches) I will no doubt get a chance to see what he is raving about .

Canon 5DS and Tamron 70-200 ... this is the first use of my new 5DS tonight. Its been sitting around for about 4 days. Went downtown Medford, Oregon, just after sunset and started conversing with this taxi driver. This is the center 1/3 of the frame with the top and bottom 1/3 removed. I left the color alone mostly but muted the blue slightly. Minimal to brightness. The colors came out much better than anticipated even though I had watched reviews .... Handheld ... 1/200 ... ISO 200 ... available light ... f/2.8

Im one of them that needed a new computer because of the size of the 5dsr RAW files....In August last year my older(only 3 years old) Macbook Pro was struggling so bad I upgraded to the highest spec Macbook Pro that was availible in order to cope with these files ....However even with upgrade Lightroom with the 5dsr files is still struggling! ....The moment I go past 4-5 tool brush edits on same image it slows terribly and I end up having to export it to PS wher it then is ok to continue . And thats a slow down with a new top of the line Macbook Pro . Only reason I live with it with the PS workaround is I think its adobe issue rather than the Mac and hopefully the more large resolution sensor cameras released will push ADobe to fix this large file processing slowdown in next major Lightroom upgrade ....

Me too, its not 50 MPS , its the fact that they grow to 160 MB in Photoshop!
My Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz - 2.9 GHz in Turbo with a 4 GB Geforce GT540M GPU and 8GB Ram struggled appallingly with the 7,200 OS HDD, a Samsung EVO 500GB 850 SSD helped tremendously; but even that was terrible.

The new workstation is very quick, but the problem really lies with Photoshop. But its now useable. You also need to think about your storage, I had to completely reorganise it. 2x 4TB 7200 HGST deskstars, and 2 x 500GB 850 Evos SSDs for interim storage, and an Intel 750 PCIe OS disc really helps. 32 GB DDR 4 ram, and a Xeon E5 1650V3 3.8 gHz CPU completes it.
I wouldnt listen to anyone who say you do t need a fast Computer unless they have a 5DS R. And if they do then, lucky them. Personally I would want to see avideo of them editing before I beleived it.
Note my old system was just perfectly fine for 5DIII files.

I have been reading quite a bit about this body. I have a bit of a resolution vs reach vs the best AF system out there dilemma. I shot with a 7D for 6 years and have been shooting with a 7D2 since 2014. I was thinking it was time for an AF upgrade. Not that I'm struggling. It is just time for something new.

The 1DX II has the AF I want however it is only 20 megapixels. The best I'll be able to do is 400mm (100-400 II) and a 1.4 III for now. I have no issues using the 1.4 III fir BIF but prefer not to. Too many fun focusing option to play around with on my 7D2.

So reach is an issue as I won't see a 500 or 600mm lens in the near future. I know the 5DSR can resolve and crop well. I'm not afraid of heavy cropping. I actually enjoy it as a personal challenge I quickly went through all the posts in this thread and there were concerns about micro blur shooting BIF. I'm not good at math but I did a little and I'm not sure how much difference there is between 20 megapixels on a crop vs 50 on a FF. I see you posting quite a few very sharp BIF. Very nice work.

I have read the initial AF is fast and accurate but subsequent bursts are not so good. Not sure if that means it does not track well or 5 FPS is too slow. I came across this video. FYI I am very comfortable with the Case numbers, etc.

So here is the summary. I have used two bodies for years. Currently my other cam is a 5D3. I will no longer be shooting event photography and for travel I want to go to 1 body so I'm looking for a cam that does it all. I would like it to be a FF. I own a 24-0 II and will get a WA for landscapes.

I don't need 14 perfect tack sharp images. As hobbyist I just need to come home with a handful to work with. So I am convinced initial AF is fast and accurate but I'm getting mixed information about tracking accuracy.

Now that you have a better idea of what I'm trying to accomplish any input would be very helpful. If anyone else wants to comment please do.

I moved from a 5D3, was going to keep it , but never touched it again.
I love the detail.
I dont shoot bif so cant comment, I did shoot the some dressage, expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised. The 5D3 was ok at this, both af tracking and low ish light ( uk weather ... Always eems to be dismall on the wrong day!) I think maybe the 5D3 was slightly better, but not really discernable.
Note dressage is pretty slow horse movements.
So I did try a few shooting the young Cat, no he can move like lightning when he wants. Well he was feeling lazy ish, but it coped.
Sadly as they werent spectacular in terms of making him look nice, just a moggy in the garden I deleted them.

To me its aboit thise lovely rich detailed files! Period. So maybe my focus is very different to yours.
My two pence, for the Money the 1DXII should have been a 35 MPS sensor maybe cut down to 20 for fast servo mode!
That would have have really given me a nasty choice!

So its good value for money. And manages as my single camera.

I think the noise cleans up well but still ISO 3400 is probably tops-

In addition If hes in a good mood he will sometimes let me get as close as 5 meters if I approach him very slowly wearing a cheap $20 .00 camo poncho I bought off Aliexpress china.... This 5DSR camera sensor /100-400 lens combo is that sharp I actually didnt need to do any sharpening at all in lightroom/Photoshop apart from default
