Ah Ha... caught him in the air! My very first BIF and I have to give most of the credit to AF and IS. I saw him, pointed the lens and prayed... "They're fast and they dart".

There's a macabre feeling to this... Reminds me of Snow White and the Huntsman. Fantastic capture.

Clipper, an ISO question on the 5Dsr.
What would be better for wide-field (think Milky Way) astro-High ISO short expsosure or cap it at 3200 and deal with star trails and the longer exposures.
So far in my research the 5Dsr is not coming up tops for astro application and happily I didn't purchase with that in mind but I'm headed to dark skies in a few days
and might as well give it a go.

Not sure actually...Ive never tried it as the 5dsr's sensor noise at high iso has put me off even using the camera in low light daytime so I never even considered/attempted anything night related! :) .......Having said that I do remember though seeing an blog somewhere by a guy who did try it and it didnt look too bad...Well thats what I remember . I think it was done on a Hiking trip somewhere in US like Joshua National Park because I seem to remember Joshua trees figuring in some of the images he posted ..I think he also did foreground light painting with night sky/stars in background which looked pretty cool. Anyway I will keep an eye out for it on the sites I regularly frequent and if I see it again I will post the link

What an amazing shot!
I see you took it with a 5DS R. May I ask how much this was cropped?
