POTN G-series Speed Challenge #597 - Forest for the Trees

_______________

Description of this week topic:
Forests, trees, single or multiple. Green or not. Just looking for trees on the hoof. Creativity and composition will be rewarded! Anything to do with trees either living or recently dead (not in sawn lumber form, that is). Have fun!
_______________

MSix- Excellent! Simple, beautiful and relaxing. I would like to spend some quality time on one of those lounge chairs. Great exposure, focus, color, composition.

JimAskew- I love me a good landscape. Not a golfer, but still like the green surrounded by mountains. Thanks for this entry

Sibil- Wow, I'm glad you put a title to that! So interesting. Not being from a palmtree'd region, I would not have recognized it. Colors and texture that I find extremely interesting. Very creative detail. I like this photo!

Trumper- Looking up into a big mature tree with the sun starred through the branches! You really caught the exposure with the brilliant blue sky and that star in the leaves! Tough shot to expose.

Teekay- I love the colors of the aspen... such nice fades to green to gold to green with the contrasty white trunks in the mountain twilight. I like the white trunks in the background. This is beautiful.

Raven-The watchers are amazing! The black and white is so appropriate both to the setting and the fantastic texture of those trees. Great title, too! The eyes are completely drawn to the tree trunks here and what trunks they are!

CarloY- Reaching for the sun indeed. The trees are the stars here. I love this perspective shot. Such height and stately dignity here with the sunbursts at the tops. Brilliant photo!

Maureen-Autumn color in Cali! Being an east coaster, it's hard to imagine fall color in your neck of the woods, but there it is! 3 bright orange trees! Nice shot!

Well, you hope for lots of entries when you post a topic, but you also hope that one really speaks to you. It becomes much more difficult when you receive lots of entries but more than one of them speak to you. I really love the perfection of MSix's palm photo, but Teekay's, Raven's and CarloY's trees all jumped out and grabbed me. I really needed to just roll the dice to see which one wins, since they all kept my mind changing back and forth and back again. I finally just had to settle on an order but frankly any one of them coulda been and shoulda been #1.

#1 Raven. It was about the trees and those trees are tremendous and seem so full of quiet wisdom.

#2 CarloY. It was about the trees and those trees are so tall and beautiful.

#3 Teekay. It was about the trees and those trees are just gracefully colorful.

MSix- It was all about that lovely palm tree beach ambiance.... I really would love to sit there and take it in.

Congrats, Raven. Take it away!

Steve

Thanks, Steve, for the win and for hosting a fun contest this week. Glad it wasn't me :-)
And congrats Carlo and teekay. Beautiful shots all.

I was really impressed with this cemetery when I found it. Old (not east coast old but old for here) and not overly pristine.
And the trees are really interesting for sure.

I'll have a new contest up sometime late this evening.

Congrats to Jim & the runner's up. My favorite shot was Carlo's this week but everyone had a great entry..

I wanted to Post picture of the Giant Sequoias since they are only 35 miles from me but I think I have used them in a couple of other competitions & didn't want to press my luck.

Steve, we do get lots of autumn color here in Central California but not until late November. Still, it is fairly impressive. the 3 trees you see in my photo are only 3 in a 2 mile stretch of the same view on both sides of the street right alongside of my neighborhood.ߘ

Congratulations to all. That's a fine set of takes on trees. I didn't enter this week, but I always look in.

Congrats Raven and Teekay.
Thanks Steve for hosting, the Theme of course, and your care in the judging. Thx too for the nod in 2nd.

I thought I might get out this last week and shoot photos for the challenge, the time just wasn't in the cards. Fortunately I do not lack shots of woods and trees, and this one was easy to find among my many walks a couple years back.

Good show ALL!

Carlo
