Will,

I wish there was something I could say to ease the pain. We've been through it too many times ourselves.

Sorry guys, don't know what to say, your dogs passing has had a big effect on the contributors here Will. Never experienced your pain as I've never had a dog, cat, pet of any sort. Daughter has two horses, a donkey and two dogs, they are all young enough that it should be quite soome time before I experience what you are going through, even then, they are not mine.

Anyway, slight change from them passing to Moose ........... a plate of eggs for your dog, is that normal, healthy for them, etc??? Maybe you just spoil him!

Most dog food should be supplemented with protein from time to time. I give Harley either eggs (hard-boiled or fried in olive oil) or chicken about twice a week.

Can I be your dog please? I'll have the fried in olive oil option.

Careful what you wish for, Ian. He knows things that only people on the inside know.

We make our own dog food. it's a combination of either chicken or ground turkey depending on what on sale, a little rice, some carrots and green beans and that's about it. Mix it in with the puppy chow a about 2/3 our stuff and 1/3 puppy chow.

We also got her one of those bowl that slow down her eating (external link) as she would gulp it down literally in seconds. It now takes her about 10 to 15 minutes to finish a meal.

I'll have to look into that. Harley inhales his food in about 8 seconds :(
We even have one of those stainless steel balls in his bowl that's supposed to slow him down. It doesn't.

Yea, we tried placing a big rock in there but she just slurped around it. She would eat so fast that she got sick. This one really works. She needs to move it to the edge before she can eat it. I think it was frustrating for her the first day or two until she figured out the system. Now she is very efficient but it still takes time so she is slowed down significantly.

It's pretty good sized, about 12 x 16 oval.
