Anybody agree that this lens should be a kit lens with cameras of 1 series from Canon?
24-105 or 24-70 for 5D series or 6D and non 1 series full frame, while 70-200 is for 1 series either full frame or crop if Canon ever making this crop 1.3x back to life again.
And i know putting this lens as a kit lens will put the price high, but if someone has the budget for both, then the combo will be cheaper than buying each individually, say if the camera is costing about $6000 and the lens is nearly $2500 then both are almost $8500, but if you buy the combo then it should be in $7000-8000 range, agree or no?
Unlikely anyone would buy such a kit. Rarely do anyone just jump from point-&-shoot to 1D series. Which means over the years of shooting crop or 5D/6D cameras, they've likely accumulated several lenses in their collection, and the 70-200 will probably have made it into their bag prior to buying the camera.
So if that's the case, I don't see how putting the 70-200 as a kit with the 1D would make me buy the 1D more. What it would simply do is give me the false-hope that I can buy the kit, and then sell the 70-200 as a "used/white box" lens on the side to recuperate some money. But that will only serve to flood the used market of 70-200 lenses and the used value of those lenses would plummet so much that you lose whatever discount you think you would have gotten in the first place.
Bottom line, it is very rare for someone with the top-of-the-line camera body and not already having some of the top L lenses.
