There is a very complete review online now as well, with a variety of sample images.

Very good review. The jpgs look like they have a very large radius USM, or something. Not pretty for pixel-peeping. I processed some RAWs last week, and they look much better. Gonna be a long wait for mine to arrive!

I just found out yesterday that Canon's release date of this camera for 5/26/2016 has been postponed until 6/9/2016.

What are peoples thoughts on this camera and is it the top line model of the G series, it's getting hard to keep up now. I have been out of it for a while and previously owned the G7 and the G1X.

Cheers. Looks great, is it being flagged as the best in the G series range though or does that go to the G16?

I own the G16 and the G7X MarkII, the 16 is superior in every way for macro, but the MarkII takes a better all around picture and has much more flexibility. Hope that helps.

Yeah cool. I actually like the viewfinder and hot shoe as I have the small flash so I might look more at the G16, what do you think?

You can't go wrong with the G16, it is an excellent all around camera that handles macro excellently. Here is a pic of a Squat Anenone Shrimp from a G16 in underwater macro mode. Less than 3mm in length.
