I just found out yesterday that Canon's release date of this camera for 5/26/2016 has been postponed until 6/9/2016.

I own the G16 and the G7X MarkII, the 16 is superior in every way for macro, but the MarkII takes a better all around picture and has much more flexibility. Hope that helps.

You can't go wrong with the G16, it is an excellent all around camera that handles macro excellently. Here is a pic of a Squat Anenone Shrimp from a G16 in underwater macro mode. Less than 3mm in length.
