I am really curious if someone is using this LED light already. It is the ICELIGHT knock off from Yongnuo.
It is available for a couple of weeks now but I havent seen any users on POTN yet.

I'll buy one I think (I wish it took LPE6 batteries though).

I'm curious about all versions of the portable tube light sources.

For anyone who has used one... I would like to know:

1 - It's (essentially) a one dimensional light. Yet, I keep reading about the 'wrap-around' quality of the light. Does it behave like a large light source? Like a strip box?, or is it unique and the 'wrap-aroud' and 'window-light' descriptors are being added by the marketing departments?

2 - The catchlights... I'm not finding them flattering - At all. Is this type of light source going to be used primarily for fill, or do people like the catchlights, or, is photoshop going to be applied to each image?

I feel like I should admit that I sort of like ring-light catchlights, so catchlight beauty is obviously in the eye of the beholder. How does everyone else feel about the catchlights?

3 - LED lights and CRI numbers and white balances and... Can any of these (MTL-900, YN360, Icelight) be compared to the colour quality of light from speedlights and strobes?

And, what is the CRI value for flashes and strobes? Or, is that just a value for continuous light sources?

I've used them in weddings with a helper, and I have the helper wave it around so that it becomes in effect, a light box, almost.
The Yongnuo has a very high CRI value. I presume the Ice light does to, as that it what I used and it turned out pretty nice.

Just ordered one, looking at some DIY diffuser options. I'd love to see some examples with the light if anyone's got them!

Got it in the mail today, so far so good! It's quite a bit warmer than 5500 (closer to 5000?), but the build quality actually feels better than I expected.

Just get a sheet of your favorite Rosco diffusion material, cut it to length and width, and either tape it or Velcro it to the light.

I ended up building a cardboard soft box with the box it came in and some hockey tape.

I've been using mine bounced, or directed through my 5-1 reflector with the cover removed (just diffuser). I think the YN360 is a great little tool for a bit more creativity and flexibility.

I find it a bit harsh without diffusion. I guess that light coming from a single plane is the disadvantage. But with bounce or diffusion, it's great.

I used mine last weekend for the first time, along with the home-made soft box. So far so good!

Wow great job! Did you combine a lot of layers for this shot or is this shot with just one longer shutter.
Did you use a diffuser for this one?

5 separate long exposures combined into one image. I too used a cardboard home-made diffuser.
