AKA Junior High School.

Hasn't been called that since the 80s.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Well we only have Kindergarten (3-4yo), Primary School (Both Preschool (5yo) and years 1-6) then High School (7-12) - Some are called secondary colleges. Followed by some in University or TAFE.

So you're all talking French to me.

I went in the 70's so I went to Junior High, but I was speaking in the current vernacular.

Middle school is before HS.

It was Jr. High School when I was a student but CA screwed it up.

As usual.

I went to junior high school. Why was the name changed? I don't see that "middle school" is an improvement.

Well, in Scotland we keep things simple (Moose don't say for simple people!!) Primary school (5 to 11) then Secondary school (11 to 16-18), then to university or real world of work, etc.

interesting you should say that - I applied for another job today, figured I've technically been with the same company since 1995, and it's probably time I did something about it. (for those of you that are scratching their heads about the quote, Spark is my current employer.)
and yes, spark spelt backwards is...

I went to Junior High as well.

For me that was 7th and 8th grade, IIRC.

High School was 9-12. Grade school K-6.

Out here in Kalifornia they do K-5 in grade school, 6-8 in "middle school" and 9-12 in high school.

Except that in middle school the 6th graders are effectively segregated from the rest of the school with different lunch periods, classroom areas, etc. because the district is worried that the kids are too small to mix with the older kids.

Seems pretty stupid to me, but what do I know. I went to Jr. High. :p
