Awesome perch !!

I'm really hoping CFast prices come down before Christmas. I'm headed down to Florida in January/February for 4 weeks of bird photography and then at the end of March I'm headed to Panama to photograph birds for 12 days. If the forecast is correct and the next 5D does not have a CFast slot, then I'm afraid prices will remain the same. By Christmas, I need to pick up another CFast card -- either a 128 GB or a 256 GB, so my fingers are crossed!

We will be in Panama --Darient tent camp-- in November and we're scheduled for Florida Osprey end of March.
Right after Panama we'll head to Conowingo---close to Rhode Island? I do owe you a beer

Hello to all 1dX series owners,

I just got my mark II and started to compare to my mark I body.

Is it only me or:

1. LCD screen is more yellow (ish) ?
2. Pictures taken with the same iso/shutter/aparture/W​B/picture style are different in color (1dX 2 - second pic - is warmer than 1dx ) - I cant get the same white colour in PS or LR

I don't (remember amateur having fun with photography) see the connection/conflict to an apples -5Div- versus oranges '1DXii. Similarly we just added a 5Dsr which is (to me) yet again pomegranates versus bananas. Each is so different in their capabilities/intent.

On the A7Rii we took it on last weeks trip and several times when I had some ground to cover for my shot I chose it over the 5Dsr simply for weight matters alone.
Screwdrivers, hammers, saws, and so on.

I noticed these things early on. I don't know if the LCD is much of an issue since it is merely displaying the photos captured by the sensor. But the new sensor is definitely different than previous Canons I've had in terms of color balance.

but still, how to maintain the same color (maybe not 100%) to old 1dx?
If i'm making event with two bodies (i'm 10000% not the only one) how to deal with these different outputs? ( don't start with B&W conversions )

You could get something like a GretagMacbeth Macbeth Color Checker (https://www.calphoto.c​o.uk …jku6OUxM4CFaYW0​wodpJQGkQ), take a shot with both cameras, and try to work out what colour tweaks you need to balance shots from the two (assuming the difference between the cameras is consistent across different exposures and lighting - otherwise it'll get a little cumbersome having to get a shot with the card with both bodies at every shoot.).

You have some great trips coming up my friend! I just checked out the Darien Tent Camp online (after reading your post) and it looks like a great place! November is a great time of the year in Panama. As you probably know, you're entering into the dry season and it sounds like a fantastic time to visit Panama. When I head to Panama in early April, I'm spending 4 days in Gamboa with a great ornithologist that I have become friends with. Panama is one of his favorite places in the world and I'm looking forward to absorbing his knowledge as he leads 5 of us around on all-day sunrise to sunset walks in the jungle. After 4 days of hiking and birding, that group is departing and I'm staying on board for 7 days of hard-core bird photography by myself. I am staying in Gamboa for this trip.

While I'm in Panama, it sounds like you will be enjoying Osprey's in Florida, which sounds like another good trip! My Florida trip in Jan and Feb has now been extended to 7 weeks. That trip is a mixture of two activities for me that will add up to 4 weeks of bird photography and 3 weeks of full-time skydiving. I'm stoked to head there in the winter and see what Florida has to offer!

Unfortunately, Conowingo is not close to Rhode Island. It's about a 6-hr drive from here. But that's not to say that a road trip might not be in order! (Depending on the timing.) I'd love to photograph Bald Eagles. You know, sometime, those of us in this thread need to find an opportunity to meet up somewhere. Robamy is located here in Rhode Island too. We should try to talk him and his wife into a meet-up sometime!

There's a world of great opportunities out there.
