and you have to take into account that you're looking at web hosted jpegs that may not be perfectly optimized. I still haven't found the best way to exhibit my work online without the photos looking degraded. On my home computer, the results from this camera are fantastic when I do my job correctly.

well that didn't last long...

I checked out the 7d2 thread and the pics look a lot better. I know the camera probably has a slight advantage but I was expecting 80D to look better.

Most of the pics I looked at here are taken with good lenses too.

I hope its user error because I am still debating whether to get the 80d or the 7d2

it depends on the users and editing style... i don't post most of my stuff here bc i get sick of double posting. I'd rather post them in the wedding section or w/e section they correspond to - not the section "this was taken with this equipment" thread

you are better off looking here https://photography-on-the.net/forum/gallery.php?camera=3211

The results from the camera are fine. If it were anything but, you would have heard pretty loud complaints and negative reviews about it all over the internet.

Best advice would be to check them out in person at your local camera store. The big deciding factor should be whether or not you need the better AF capabilities of the 7D2. The 80D doesn't have spot AF or the intelligent tracking and recognition that the 7D2 has. So far, I've been nothing but impressed with how well this camera performs. In addition to the great IQ, the built in wi-fi, touch screen, EC in Manual Mode, and well organized user interface have been fantastic. There are a few small nits to pick that Canon left out that would have been nice to haves, but they don't impact my results at all.

If you'd like, I can send you some full sized photos so you can verify the results.

Had my 80D for 2 weeks after moving up from a 600D. Having a bit of trouble with the focusing but got it right today I think.

First few shots with the 80D and I am happy with the results so far. Coming from a 6D, 7D Mark II and 1D Mark IV. The 80D tracks just as good and AF seems to work properly unlike my previous cameras. Now I just need some nice glass to par it with. :-)

That's good to hear. I haven't shot too much with mine but will be shooting a lot of hockey this upcoming season.

Taking mine to the US Nationals in 2 weeks! Photographing cars at 300+ mph, should be a good test for the tracking, AF, and the camera in general!

Took these yesterday after work. Originally I wanted to shoot some bees, but they had all vanished by the time I got the camera out. So I took a couple of shots of this guy instead:

Finally put the DR of this camera to the test. Quite unintentionally however. Was waiting around for the sunset, which never amounted to anything as the clouds broke apart and left a boring empty sky. But I did notice this guy sitting up on a piece of dead tree in the water. Back lit by the sun as it's going down. I do like how the water is colored though! Kind of a copper tone to it. Anyway, the original SOOC (straight conversion to JPEG) and the edited version below. MUCH more DR than I was used to on my old T3. This shot would have been destined for the recycle bin with that camera. With the 80D it's almost usable! Good enough for web anyway! Yes there is some noise in the image, now. And some slight aberration, but only really noticeable at 100%. Not a good photo, I know, but does well to show the DR and what can be brought out when shadows are lifted!

Got the Tamron back today and had to put the AF to test. Seems to lock on pretty damn good but not as quick as my 1D Mark IV. I had my Al Servo settings originally tweaked but gave me terrible results for some reason. Default settings worked much better.

80D vs 7D2 for primarily bird photography???

Anyone used both and able to comment on differences. Not sure if the extra price is worth it.

Will be an upgrade from a 60D so both should be a good jump in the AF department.

More bees. Don't know why, but they're my favorite subjects:
