I think the 5DII is quite old and there was a lot of improvement since its release up to to the launch of the 7DII. I just got recently a 5DIII and I can see the difference of the fullframe and the crop sensors but these 2 were released with only a couple of months apart so they are kind of the same league when it comes to comparison.

Were you thinking/saying that 5DIII and 7D2 a couple months apart?

A little over a couple years apart, and 7D2 is a much newer sensor design. Yes, closer to 5D3 than an aging 5D2, but still not the same sensor tech.

5D3 1st quarter 2012 vs. 7D2 last quarter 2014

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

A rarity to Ohio. This guy should be headed the opposite direction. The only thing I like about August are the occasional dispersal birds that show up in odd places before migration really kicks in. Swallow-tailed kite.

Okay, something besides birds.

I finally got to try out my 100-400 II at a daylight football scrimmage this morning. It did great.

Different lenses enable different AF points. See
http://www.canon.com.hk …ibution_of_AF_points.html (external link)

Makes no difference to me, I use the center point only (95% of the time).

So this was the distance the bird spent most of the time. Heavy crops except the first one and I had my 1.4 on.

This s what I missed. Once in a while it flew right to some branches right beside us. I had the cam on it for along time and then it leaped as I turned it to vertical orientation. The problem sight seeing with non photographers is they get bored after a while. I could have spent all day there.

Love the eye contact in the third capture.
