Just purchased my 7d ii.I would like to know if you use the auto ISO or set it your self to get better results. Thanks for any recommendations.

Auto ISO is a great feature especially with EC. The big BUT is that you need to understand how the auto exposure is going to meter so you can properly use EC with the respective ae mode {partial, spot, evaluative etc}.

How do you post process for noise? I do not like to use the 7D2 over ISO 3200, for my eyes the quality just gets very bad over that value.

Scrolling past this again. Really captivating. Great concept pushing down the ambient.

Thank you

Yeah, I use EC occasionally with manual with Auto ISO when shooting sports. Comes in handy when shooting action that is backlit.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Got to check off the Osprey today in my Birds of Prey photo checklist. This one was sitting on the edge of my office building and my Tamzooka was in its new Pelican case at home. But I did have my 70-200 and Kenko 2x. So not my best shot, but just looking at that talon I know that this bird would tear any prey a new one.

Getting closer but still don't have the 'just at water contact' shot. For a short period of time the sterns were diving in the middle of a brood of mergansers so I kept some of the little ones in the shots. No real tracking for these. Point the camera at the mergansers and wait for the sterns to dive. For some shots I wasn't even looking through the viewfinder. Sort of like shooting fish in a barrel. So I had about 14 birds diving for/on the same school of minnows.

There was one frame between these two that wasn't quite as good. The stern was on the up-swing so you could see more wing but the body was still completely submerged. Both are cropped quite a bit.

Rod
