Even if you pre order tomorrow, there was a rumour stating they wont be shipping the camera until end of September?

Wont you guys wait until reviews show up? say if the 5d4 is just a 5d3 with slight larger MP and no DR change(doubt it but you never know right?)

I think for me anyway it is a risk to just throw money on a camera without actually knowing everything about it and playing with its raw files etc.

This is coming from a 5d3 user of course. If you are from a 5d2 then id pre order and buy in a heartbeat but for us 5d3 folks out there maybe worth waiting for reviews?

Would of been harder to get more and it wasn't perfect had dust in viewfinder and brazing on the left side and 65k on the shutter so people would of low balled me anyway.

I still have the 80D that will be for sale once I get the 5d4... I have plenty more to sell to offset the cost so in not adding on any extra just moving stuff around.

Could just sell the 200/2 and 80d and buy 5d4 and 7d2 and still have extra

moving stuff around is so difficult when you dont want to let go :-D

these days, I think I would just take the loss rather than let go of a lens that I like, even if I rarely use it. Like if I had a fisheye, I would hardly ever use it for architecture shots/landscapes, but its different and I'de just keep it unless it was burning a hole in my pocket. My wife has like 4 purses, most just sit around. Does she care? so why should I :-P

Sure, its much faster to get your fast gear fix if you move stuff around, but there comes a point where you've basically had it all right? Just calming myself down for gear attacks, and instead come up with a long term solution..... own everything!

That is the beauty of a pre-order, you have until it hits store shelves to cancel. ;)

I'm staying up late. Sold my 5D3 for a quick sale for 1650. Ready to move on the 5D4.

That is exactly where I suspect prices will be upon an announcement. Around $1500-1700 for a few weeks. There might be stabilization after that at a slightly higher price point, but there is ALWAYS a rush of sellers getting rid of their old bodies to afford the pre-order up to the actual time it hits store shelves. They are selling for $1800 now, so we are talking about a firesale of around $100-300 below that upon an announcement, which is a very reasonable expectation, especially given history.

If it is as good as we expect, this also means that the 1D4 used prices will finally drop some, for those not using the 1D4 for sports or bursting shots anyways. The 5D4 will do a better job at producing an APS-H crop result than the 1D4 due to better ISO and more final resolution by almost 2 Mpx.

I predict excellent conditioned 1D4 prices will start to settle around the current 7D2 price point. For the new price of the 5D4, one might be able to get a 1D4, a 5D3, and a 24-105II. :)

Does anyone know if the new 5Div will take XQD cards?

The rumors are CF and SD. If they were going to use a high speed interface, it would likely be CFAST like the 1DxII. We'll know for sure tomorrow.

I chucked my 6D a few weeks ago for $980. Looking at the specs it seems as though the 7dII is about as good except for the depth of field and UWA you can get with a FF sensor. Then there's the weather sealing, dual cards, and AF the 6d gives up to the 7dII. Next wedding I book I'll probably grab another 5dIII on the cheap or spring for the IV if the AF, weather sealing, and base ISO DR impress me.

Isn't XQD Sony technology? Ergo it would make sense that Sony and Nikon cameras would feature it, but Canon might want to rebuff.

Enjoying reading the enthusiasm here

For those really eager beavers I just read this on CR ...

"The good news is shipping will begin within a few weeks of the announcement."

I have the 7D2 and the 6D as my best cameras, and the 6D only leaves the house when I want to use my 8mm fisheye or my 12-24mm, or I am using a well-matched fast prime like my 24/1.4 or 50/1.4 and want to shoot in extremely low light or with paper-thin DOF. In all other cases, the 7D2 is my go-to camera; it is superior in operation, has better noise character (finer). It has slightly more high-ISO noise than a 1.6x crop from the 6D on paper (about 1/4 stop), but between the much higher resolution and slightly better noise character, the 7D2 looks better in equivalence, and in focal-length-limited situations. If it ever looks worse, it is not by much.

If the discount is good enough, I might just drive over and pick it up. :D But probably not.... can't play with it while driving back home, would rather just get it and open it and play with it all in the first hour of delivery. (with the wrong context, that sounds really bad doesn't it?)
