Canon 5D Mark IV -- Time to Discuss!

Ordered and now deciding on the new lens. very exciting.

Totally lackluster, especially the 4k video uses center crop with a x1.74 factor. Can't believe 4 years they come out with this. Not a good time to go back to Canon for me.

Be prepared to be next Nokia.

Honestly, I'm getting so much use out of my 5D3 I didn't have to read a thing about the new 5D4 to pre-order one from B&H this morning. I will welcome the added resolution. And I know Canon is going to give me like or better high ISO performance. And while I love the 24-105f/4LIS for travel, it is soft in the corners (see photo I just posted over in the Landscape section). So I pre-ordered the kit with the 24-105 mk2.

This is the kind of thing I've been using the 5D3 for. Here with a 35L.

30.4 / (1.5 x 1.5)

Not to mention it uses MJPEG for 4k. 24fps around 500mbit/s, ~17 min for 64G card; where a7r II and a7s II use XVAC S at 100mbit/s

Plus still no more info for the CMOS is allowed to be published yet (DP said should have improvement over 5d3, very vague). Sony is 40m+ with back illumination already, not to mention A9 and A7 III is rumored to come.

Need more info about the AF system, the only part Canon may shine. The -4ev seems to work with dual pixel's phase detection, not quite sure how it really works yet. If this holds true that's one exciting news for the 5D mark IV

It takes 77.7MPixel FF sensor with same pixel density as 1.6-crop 30.2MPixel sensor, to allow cropping to same 1.6 crop size.

It takes 70MPixel FF sensor with same pixel density as 1.5-crop 30.3MPixel sensor, to allow cropping to same 1.5 crop size.

If you start with 30MP FF, end up with only 12.8MPixel sensor, when cropping to 1.5 crop size.

Agree, neary a third more expensive than the D810, a superb camera and better in many respects, a third more that the 5DS, and only 500 quid short of a new 1DX, not hoping for quick sales in the UK are they? Just another small push towards Nikon....

Too rich for me. Patiently waiting for the 6DII so the 6D prices can plummet
