I wonder if the Dual Pixel RAW feature is going to come to the 1DX Mark II via a firmware update? The technology does look quite interesting: https://www.youtube.com …9MSRRvn4&feature=youtu.be

We added 5Dsr three weeks ago, and knowing the 5Div was looming--now that the specs are out of the bag I'd get the 5Dsr all over again. Dammit, but I already have 2 1DX Mark IIs and a 5DsR -- I think I've spent enough on cameras this year

This is at f/4 even. Too much light pollution is my guess. But I'll confess, I'm quite the noobie when it comes to trying to process the Milky Way. Julian

Thank you very much. Every time I use the 1dx2, I'm amazed at what it can do and how easily it does it. MedicineMan4040 wrote in post #18105425 ![]() Don't you love that lens! It is among my chosen three for a minimal setup with the 1DXii, along with the 16-35/4, the 24-70/4 and a 1.4TCiii. Between what the 100-400ii and the 24-70/4 can do macro-wise for me there is no reason to tote a separate macro lens. I'm pre-ordering the new 24-105 II today. If it improves over the current 24-105 the way the 100-400 II did over its predecessor, the new 24-105 will be excellent. In the meantime, my trusty 70D + 15-85 will continue serving as my wide angle solution. I've used the 1.4TCiii + 100-400 II on the 1dx2 a little bit. It seems to play very nicely. Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

Canon is about to release a significant firmware update (1.1) for the 1DX2. There are a lot of new features being added and while they are largely aimed towards the press photographer, some of these things can and will be useful for many of us. Yes, I was hoping for additional touch screen functionality, but perhaps that is coming later on down the road.
