It may 'only' have 11 focus points, but it trumps my 7D2 in low light conditions every day of the week.

All 11 points active

Both cropped, both at ISO's where the 7D2 is not at all comfortable. Sure it missed focus a few times but the 7D2 was missing just as many that day in those conditions.

Wow wow wow. Truly outstanding Graham.

Thanks, Klaus. Well, you could hop on a plane and be there in a few hours - it's on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

That sounds tempting indeed! - But the plan is in fact to jump into the car Saturday morning and go to southern France to find a bit more summer before the autumn and winter kicks in here in the northern parts ;-)a

And of course bring my new 100D (SL1) as a lightweight alternative to the 70D - amazing camera for the 2 years I have had it, but a bit heavy after 5 years of M43. I will try to keep you posted (in the appropriate thread) depending on the network connection available in the campsites. I have packed a limited trio of lenses - the 24/2.8 STM, the 10-18 STM and the 18-135 Nano USM. I am still debating with myself if the 18-135 is too heavy and I should sneak the 18-55 STM into the bottom of a backpack in case I want to swap with the 18-135 - always questions! :-P

So, I thought I'd try this route.....

After reading dozens and dozens of 6D reviews/blogs and watching YouTube videos, my mind is a muddied as ever. I don't think I've ever seen a camera that has such conflicting reviews. They all start off with the good things such as great IQ, the low light functionality, the GPS and WiFi. So, along about the middle of the review you're feeling really good and saying to yourself, hey this is what I need, this is the camera for me. Then comes the downfalls. The maximum shutter speed of only 1/4000, the max flash sync speed of 1/180th, the 4.5 fps and then the most negative item of having only 11 point focus system. Insert burst bubble here.

I'm moving from Crop to FF. Why? Because I want to. Not to be short but, I do not have to explain why.

I want the best (5D3) but can't afford the best. I want the 6D but I do not want the 6D. I shoot landscapes. I travel quite a bit overseas and I shoot landscapes 80% of the time. 10% active (sports, baseball, football, active dogs, air shows,etc..) and 10% family candids and or portraits. While the 10% active doesn't seem to amount to much, I absolutely do not want to loose that capability.

For those that own the 6D - Do you think the 4.5 shutter speed and the 11 point focus system will sufice for my 10% active shooting style?

I'm so confused on this matter that I might even end up waiting until early 2017 when the 6D2 is to be released hoping that Canon will address some of their earlier downfalls.

5D3 may drop a little more with the new one due soon if that's what you really wont,I think the 6D would be fine for your % stats.
operator is still the important part imo!
Quite a versatile camera.
best of luck

I shot this the other day and in looking at it I was a little disappointed that his wings were blurry. But I got to thinking (an always dangerous situation)......well, maybe his wings should be blurry. After all, he was flying and isn't this kind of like when we shoot a screw driven airplane we always want a nice prop blur?

So.....there ya go.....birdie prop blur. :p
