Really!
It wouldnt be anything innovative either .. no new tech needed.. copy and paste..
But they have no interest.. that being said they should have made no mention of video

I use to be a strong proponent of video in a SLR but have changed my position especially now that there are s many other options. I wish that they would skip the video completely and lower the cost a bit instead. This would be a fantastic camera at say $2500

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

The video portion is essentially all software, do you really think having no video would save that much money?

Just wait for the Nikon D750 successor in a year or two. It probably going to give the specs of the 5D4 for less than $2500

Adding the additional hardware needed to record the audio probably doesn't add more than about 150 Yen to the materials cost of the camera. Actually adding the WiFi, NFC and the GPS combined probably only adds around 1500 Yen in added hardware costs. These are all now mature products, that are pretty much available in single chip packages. I'm currently working on a computerised control system, and have been looking at these types of devices and to include WiFi, NFC, GPS and 869 MHz long range RF comms would only add about £75 to the hardware costs, and I'm looking at buying single units, not hundreds of thousands, or more per year! Actually I really want to add the GPS, but I can't really think of a valid reason to add it.

Oh and 100 Yen is approximately $1.

Perhaps wait for the 6D2?

I have no doubt that the 6D2 will be a great step up from the 6D.....but I feel the 5D4 will meet my needs much better.

Maybe not in hardware but in engineering and development costs, testing costs, marketing costs and others. It might not be obvious but I'll bet there are hundreds of people involved in making the video happen.

Not much use buying a Nikon if you have thousands of pounds invested in Canon lenses....

Unfortunately, I resemble that comment minus the currency type.

True, but those costs are amortised over a large range of products, so even then probably add a relatively small amount to the sale price.

Camera, some lenses, too little time, too little talent

Watched the Northrupp video. Basically he says that since the 5D4 doesn't have all of the features from Nikon/Sony/Pentax/Fuji, it sucks.

We've heard for the past 4 years about the lack of dynamic range. We're sick and tired of hearing about the damn dynamic range [/bernie_sanders]. And now that it's somewhat been addressed, leave it to Northrupp and other reviewers to bring up some other feature to start people crying about until the 5D5. Thanks. I can't wait to hear drones complain about EVFs or whatever  He even complained about the top panel LCD, and how it isn't OLED. The horror!

Another great tidbit from Northrupp's video is how he complains about the 5D4 not having the 5DS/R sensor, and how people who REALLY care about sharpness should be concerned because EVERYONE else's cameras have 30% or more sharpenss and detail, no AA filter!!!111 Damn... it wasn't too long ago that people were crying about how the Nikon D800/810 TOTALLY wiped the floor with the 5D3 in sharpness because of the 36MP sensor! Now that the 5D4 is approaching that bar: no detail, this sensor sucks!

And he complains about the menu system? LOLOL He's the first and only person I've ever heard complain about Canon's menu system. It's not broke, so why fix it?

Everyone has to complain about something these days. Lack of video features wahhhhhh  Dynamic range  wahhhhhh only 30MP  wahhhhhhh 4 year old tech  wahhhhhhhh

The Wi-Fi feature sucks compared to Nikon's  wahhhhhhhh Look, it's better than the 5D3's and 1DX II's Wi-Fi, amiright?

Basically, don't buy this camera. Move to Sony, or someone else, because REAL photographers who are really serious about their work are using those brands.

I use both sony and canon so im good mate.

Want the best? dont stick to one brand/one camera

The camera has entirely too much resolution for 4K video (4096px is all that is needed), so either it must resize the entire sensor capture down to 4K frame sizes, or do a crop, correct? Perhaps I don't understand 4K, but I know for sure I don't get all the gripes? Despite all the complaints, I am sure the trend will continue where movie studios will pick this up for all kinds of movie clips, presentations, etc. I am also sure wedding photogs are going to do very well with the video capabilities. ;)

If you don't like the cropping of the sensor to record the 4K, then shoot wider, no different than the day to day dilemmas of crop body shooters and FF shooters.

check out the sony a7smk2

I sort of do the same. My work camera is a D800. Switched from Canon several years ago but my personal camera is all Canon. Too much invested in lenses to switch.

I would love to know how many people are Google searching "Canon 5D4 dynamic range" every single minute :p

I'm just waiting for Imaging Resource to post some RAWs; then I'll know the relevant numbers. The scene with the crayons and the black mug and napkins usually clips on the salt-shaker specular highlights, and the black borders on the left of the RAW give the read noise and black level.
