Just an ordinary boiled egg (for lunch!). Peeled most of it and the bottom bit came sliding out. I ate the egg and thought the broken shell would make a good abstract image.

I placed the egg on a black acrylic sheet and lit it with a soft box. The background is black velvet and because only the egg shell was lit, it came out completely black.

I am really glad you liked it. The egg was delicious, by the way!

I agree about the shell texture. That's the nice thing about a macro lens. Get really close to get at the details that you would normally miss.
