Hype chimping - The act of looking at your screen after every shot, then wildly behaving like it's the best picture in the world, to try and impress other photographers around you.

Sony has the best AF in the world!*

* Among mirrorless cameras, whose name begins with S, in good light, with static subjects

Are you fricken kidding ME. This has to be a Joke. Every serious photographer that I spoke with that dumped the Sony says it was due to inconsistent at best AF performance....its the worst feature of the camera....the 2nd worst feature is the lack of quality glass from the MFG.....and we wont even talk about the horrible Horrible customer service and time to wait for a warranty repair

Pullllleeeeeese

I'm surprised that any *Serious* photographer would consider it in the first place

Well I disagree with that as well

Look. They changed the game in 2013 with the release. Never was 25000 a remote possibility. Not even in the world of possibilities.

It is what it is as far as cameras go

Canon finally got in the game

Guarantee you 1000%...IF Canon did not fix that sensor- we would all be looking at the D5 and D750

So I dont blame the guys for jumping ship

Ive been with canon long enough (and invested way to much ) to just wait it out and see what was going to happen. I will 100% admit when the D5 report came out from Ole, I was ready to jump ship. Glad I waited.

Really dont think there is a bad camera in any of the line ups. But significant advantages to the consumers to stay with a MFG now that the sensors are all close.

Great time to be a photographer

lol

i was out at a foodie event few nights ago, one of the guys had a A7 II variant (wasn't sure if it was R or not), lighting wasn't bad, the kind of lighting that even my old 500D will lock focus quite comfortably, yet the A7 took a few attempts before it would acquire focus...

Trust me.. I took a lot of heat from all the mirrorless fan boys when I told them they were full of BS when they started predicting the end of the Dslr. camera bodies come and go but its the glass that separates the MFG's.

Sony had a sensor and nothing else.

Game is changed in 2016 for Canon shooters. Do Doubt about that.

I believe that's "here".

Pretty sure my children wont be sitting that still for anything so that test done by them means about nothing for my needs.

I have 4 kids , I'm pretty confident in the handling of the A7rii, and do post in the kids forum occasionally, even action shot :lol:

I had a DSLR a solid year shooting along with the sony system before I left, although I did keep the canon lenses. I do a ton more people shooting for my kids school as they designate me as one of their photographers. I just dont find it all that difficult, and regularly even MF for the fun of it since it's much easier than when it was on DSLR.

I had typed out "here" and erased it ;-)a, not sure what's going on with my mind today.

So after spending three days reading about video specs. What about availability?

I pre-ordered through B&H but I haven't a clue when I will get it. Everyone talks about getting it on the 9th, but how much stock are they expected to have available to ship out on the 8th?

I have no clue if I will get it on the 9th or 29th.

P.S. Anyone going to the Lightroom event tonight in San Jose?

"why you aren't considering the A7Rii for cheaper."

This is an easy answer. I had the D810 and sold it. I am an amateur at best, but I really like the canon glass options.

So, the answer is GLASS.

"Glass. grass or ass, no one rides for free"

The downside or pre-ordering. The date is dependent on where you are in the list, how many are made, how many are going to big box stores and such.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.
