Yep, got to agree. I've seen Sharp-shinned Hawks, which are virtually identical in size and shape to our UK Sparrowhawk, and my first impression was that this was a juvenile, but looking at it more closely, especially the dark head, tail pattern and extent of the orange barring, I've got to admit I was wrong: it's a Broad-winged.

This mornings bird. Did see the hawk do a high fly over but not close enough to freak the little ones.
