Ive been using Spywareblaster and Malwarebytes for years and haven't got a single virus, so far.
Spywareblaster doesn't even run in the background unlike most of the other anti-malware software.

Try "Avira" free version is minimal in pop up for upgrade, ranked fairly high. Also Malwarebytes is very good at Malware but you still need a virus program as Virus and Malware are still two different threats. Yes there is overlap but both defenses are required!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malware (external link)

" 'Malware' is an umbrella term used to refer to a variety of forms of hostile or intrusive software,[4] including computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, ransomware, spyware, adware, scareware, and other malicious programs. It can take the form of executable code, scripts, active content, and other software.[5] Malware is often disguised as, or embedded in, non-malicious files. As of 2011 the majority of active malware threats were worms or trojans rather than viruses."

Yes I guess my 30 years of IT has made me sloppy, but non the less 2 programs are usually required for full protection.

"Viruses were the dominant form of malware in the 1980s and 90s, when personal computers were first becoming common. At that time, there was no commonly-used umbrella term such as malware, so people called any malicious program a virus.

And the word has stuck. Although that program you keep running in the background protects you (hopefully) from all forms of malware, it's called antivirus because that type of program has always been called antivirus."

Eset-Nod Smart Security Suite, have it installed on 5 computers in the house that range from 2 high end gaming machines to a graphics powerhouse and it works perfect in keeping them protected and running as fast as the day each was bought.

I've tried others such as AVG, Norton and McAfee and found that each has it's own fault which ultimately leads to a pc running slow either to bloat ware that came with the software. Or it let something slip by it shouldn't have and is often expensive and time consuming to rid the pc of.

Never had any of those issues with the Eset-Nod Smart Security Suite.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.

I've been using Avast Free, CCleaner (I know) and Chrome (I know, again) for several years and haven't had any problems.
