Here is an attempt at feathering the light. Modifier is 100cm Deep Octa. It's my wife without ANY make up. C&C welcome.

Well done with a single light. I'd suggest a little more light in her left eye to see the entire white portion.
And a lovely model with no makeup!

No makeup? She has phenomenal skin.

The deep octa is a my favorite and most useful modifier.

I recommend you try using a white reflector. It can be a piece of white cloth or a piece of white poster board or a white wall or whatever. You can bring it in to reflect light into the shadows. You can also feather the light and let some of it fall on the wall behind your model to give the wall some illumination. Or let it bounce off a reflector hidden from the camera behind your model.
