We do, and yes, we do that trick to to get back 20p and 50p rather than 17p in loose change etc. Blows their heads apart bless them :)

Yes including the 20% VAT, so to be comparable to US pricing, at £1.34 to the dollar that would be $4018.88. Not as bad, but still about five hundred bucks more.

It would have been ~£250 cheaper with the medium-term historical rate of £1.44 vmad... but I'm probably straying into politics...

Panamoz website is doing the 5D4 for £2,990 with a 3 year UK warranty....
I know its a grey import but from what Ive heard they are a very good company to deal with....

I will be using them when I buy mine....massive saving on the UK price

I've not used Panamoz. I've bought a lot of gear (including my 5D3) from HDEW Cameras - again import, but never had any problems (all are registered with Canon's CPN program). It would certainly make financial sense to hold off for a while and pick one up on import and you'd save hundreds of pounds, but desire has overtaken common sense this time :-)

On that subject, I've got a pre-order with Wex, and they're now telling me the body will be available for pickup from the 8th (too far for me), and shipped items will arrive with customers on the 9th (it's slipped a day vs the last advisory).

I won't as lucky for me I have two little boys at childminders so I haven't even got the money to buy a magazine telling me about the 5Dmk IV, let alone buy the actual camera :p Good subjects for pictures though, cute as hell......

This is one crazy thread to keep up with. I've literally kept up with all 81 pages and discussions from politics to money to just all sorts of stuff sheesh.

I don't know if I would want to buy a untested camera gray on day 1. Given Canon's track record, some issue is going to crop up in the first few weeks of customer testing. Not sure how Canon's going to deal with a warranty-less camera.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Americans must be superb at mental arithmetic with all that going on!

It's true. In the USA tax is rarely shown on the price of anything. Where is Europe the price shown is what you pay. I like that a whole lot better. ;-)a

That's a very good point. I bought the 5D3 long after the light leak issue was identified (and, IRC, the first firmware fixes had been released). That said, my 5D3 has been to Canon UK for a faulty lens to be fixed and tweaked to the body (the body also had a service) and that was no problem.

Panamoz give a 3 year UK warranty......Anyway, I will not be buying untill a few weeks after release so any problems should have shown up by then..

This is the one expensive hobby that always seems to always have someone on their high horse about buying and not paying taxes on online purchases.

I'm not saying it's right, I just see it more here and on FM than anywhere else.

My worry with buying a grey import is Canon refusing to cover under warranty. My 5D3 had to go for repair less than a month after buying it for a broken cf slot - they wanted all but my inside leg measurements to repair it...

Luckily I'd purchased through Wex in the UK so all was good. Unfortunately as I travel to the US so infrequently at present I'll only buy from here in Blighty.

Maybe my worries are unfounded, but my luck is the money I'd save from an import I'll get screwed on plus more getting it repaired...

Dual Pixel RAW with Tony Northrup.

Hope he's doing it wrong cause that feature's looking really useless. Isn't DPR supposed to add another stop of DR in the highlights?
