So, anyone in the UK received a 5D4 from WEX or LCE (or similar) yet?

Windoze still doesn't do 1Dx2 RAW thumbnails. :(

Do you have the latest upgrades? I've been seeing the 1DX2 thumbnails for at least the past month. The raw files also open fine in Windows Photo Viewer or the Win10 Photo App.

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

Not interested personally, isn't worth the upgrade imo does nothing ground breaking whatsoever. I'll stick with my 5d3 for stills and Sony A7SII plus metabones for video.

This is welcomed news because the 5D3 would only record to the SD when you had it set to write separately to CF/SD. So many times I accidentally formatted over the SD before remembering I had videos on there.

Thats what I thought... I could of sworn it was that way so yes it is a welcomed addition. Will record to whatever you have selected as playback. Good. This means the SD that I use to have JPG sent to can literally be trashed periodically because it's just a backup media anyway.

Here is a series of 4K frame grabs of my son catching. You can see there is still a bit of movement between the shots. Obviously the 1Dx2 would be better at the 60FPS. Literally 3 seconds of video was 200MB but if you figure 3 seconds of 7fps 30mp RAW images would be twice that although you got 30MP raw vs 8mp jpg images.

Quality is nice but you better have exposure nailed and white balance corrected IN VIDEO if your wanting to get the frame grabs AND it does use the picture style you have selected. I chose FineDetail since it gives a good crisp image.

These images are SOOC. The video was shot at F2, 1/2500 and ISO 100. They did not do any batting which was what I was wanting to try 4K frame grab on but his first game is Monday so I'll be sure to get some from that game. I think for my needs of timing the ball on bat will be perfect use for this.

According to Windows Update I'm current. Photo Gallery and Photos don't recognize my 1Dx2 CR2 files.

In the Lens abberation correction menu try turning off peripheral illumination correction to see if it fixes the issue.

Tried that... heck no.. in fact it locked the camera... kept flickering turned the camera switch to OFF and nothing... had to pull the battery to reset.

This only affects liveview or video mode. Does not affect regular still images through the viewfinder. The IQ is stellar on stills.

I'm not worried about it because I bought the canon F4 zooms that I had already knew this would happen... it did it with the 80D. I either have to sell or I have to send off to correct.

I've got a ton of glass and need to sell and was waiting for the new 5D4 before I decide.

Just realized this and not sure if it was the same before but whatever card you have selected as playback THAT is the card movies are recorded to. I'll be happy to say that you can only record about 3 seconds of 4K on the SD card before it "automatically stops" is the message that popped up. Had to select the CF card for playback so the video would record to it.

10 seconds of 4K = 650MB at ISO 100.

The fastest UHS-I SD cards should work then (theoretically 104MB/s, though I can't recall seeing higher than 95MB/s advertised).

Yep. From Wex, on Friday - though I did pre-order on the day it was announced. The grip is delayed by a (working) day, so should be here on Monday.

NOPE... UHS-1 speed depends on the frequency used. I have confirmed the buffer can only hold about 167MB of video at 4K which using SD card doesn't matter the speed of the SD it won't work.

I used a sandisk 45MB/s card and it did not last longer than 2.5 seconds and then I used my Lexar 1000x SDXC 150MB/s card and also... it only lasted 2.5 seconds before automatically stopping.

This means 4K is absolutely for compact flash cards of 100MB/s or faster only. SD is not an option.

Seems like the 4K video was an afterthought that they had to include because the others were already on it.

So back to my previous statement: SD needs to die. Would have liked to see CF and Cfast in the 5D4

I'm leaning that way now. SD only serves a valid JPG backup really at this point. At least it's not slow so your not going to get limited in your buffer. Seems about the same shots in SD or CF are capable.

Weird. I verified 4 different computers here. 2 had LR/PS installed, the other two had neither. All handled the 1DX2 raw files properly.

OK... well I did the official buffer test.

Lexar 1066x CF card = 34 images
Lexar 1000x SD card = 22 images

Settings: 1/8000, F2, ISO 100, RAW... antiflicker disabled and any other in camera settings disabled (nr, light optimizer, etc), LENS set to manual mode no focusing involved.

Just in case anyone was wondering. This is the best case scenario here. (results may vary)
