Happen to have a photo that would show the difference? Might a small shim between the plate and the battery grip take care of it? One of the few things holding me back from making the upgrade now is the lack of available L-plates, and as an architectural shooter at the height of my busy season, there's just not a whole lot of reason for me to own one without an L-plate (a shame, given how much an improvement in dynamic range can benefit my line of work).
No, the shim would ruin the fit, not improve it. If you don't want to ever open the battery door, the fit is in fact, perfect, like a glove. The curves on the 5D4 base are apparently identical to the 5D3. If Kirk, or other manufacturer happen to make the bottom less than 1 mm shorter than RRS did, it will be a perfect match.
I will end up "hacking" my RRS bracket. Due to some personal belief differences I have with the owner of RRS, I will not ever be sending them any more money.
