So what are the chances that Sigma and Tamron would start making EF-M lenses? I imagine it would be more of a challenge for Sigma as EF-m Lenses are generally small and light, which are two things Sigma seem to not take into consideration with their lenses.

Canon's lenses like the EF-m 15-45mm f3.5-6.3 STM are nice, but I'd love a third party to come up with something with a decent fixed aperture (maybe f3.5 throughout the focal range).

Third-party makers (apart from the manual-focus varieties from Samyang/Rokinon) won't spend a dime on it until Canon demonstrates an interest in capturing market share. The M3 was a tepid effort IMO, but the rumored M5 on the other hand may be Canon's mea culpa in acknowledging that mirrorless systems are viable.

Even if the M5 is legit it will be meaningless unless Canon also announces 2-4 new M lenses for the coming year. Then Canon needs to demonstrate respectable sales in mirrorless for the first time ever. So I'm guessing 2-3 years at the earliest.

Heya,

There are already third party makers for EF-M lenses. The Samyang bunch, Tamron, and lots of eastern companies (especially weird macro stuff). Take a look. It's out there. Sigma is the only big one that hasn't dropped something significant yet, but they are taking the more premium market right now anyways.

Very best,

Honestly I was surprised when I checked BH and seen all those third party lenses, being that I live in Aus no stores here sell them.

It seems the announcement of two more EF-M (external link) lenses is imminent. Hopefully these inspire Sigma to start making some and Tamrom to make more.
