This wetland gets some nice fall colors too. In the spring there is a Blue Heron / double crested Cormorant rookery just across the river in the taller Cottonwood trees. I've been shooting White Pelicans near the dam where they gather with cormorants and Common Merganser to nab salmon milling around below Chief Joe. The Ospreys have abandoned their nests and are migrating away now, Turkey Vultures will soon follow and the Pelicans are starting to leave now. Next up Bald Eagles will be returning soon for the winter. I love living in this area.
We've been in Washington state for 24 years, but we've only been photographing for 5. The photography gives us a very new and different perspective. We enjoy the hobby and the state very much.
